Before you Schedule an Installation
Approve the Windows
- Go to a local showroom or home improvement store and find out if the window is 'user friendly'. Does it open with ease? Will it be difficult to clean?
- Make sure the replacement windows they sell are strong and durable
- Are they as good looking on the inside as the outside? Do they match your home’s style?
- Do the windows have a tight seal with weather-stripping for insulation? Are they fit with Energy-Saving glass? Compare the energy efficiency of each style and brand of window by looking for certification information from the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC).
- Ask to see the actual warranty. If a company is reputable, it shouldn't be a problem for them to supply a copy to you.
- Before making your purchase, be sure you are aware of all the details. If there is anything unclear, ask the representative to explain it better.

Sign a Contract
Before you have any work done on your home, you should have a signed contract. You need to protect yourself and your home. Even if it’s a small job, you are better off having an agreement that can be enforced in court than relying on your memory and ability to prove that something was said or promised in a verbal contract. What kinds of things should a contract include?
